BullFight Legacy Challenge Explained
How BullFight Legacy works inside Beat The Matador: pick a past year (2016+), choose three cards that traded then, watch the year play month by month, earn $100 when you conquer a year, and claim a one-time $2000 bonus for beating every Legacy year—free to play, anytime.

Same challenge, time-travel mode
BullFight Legacy is not a separate Player Challenge. Open Challenges → Beat The Matador, then choose Legacy instead of Live. You still face The Matador and his Fund—just with prices from a past calendar year instead of today’s market clock.
That split is intentional: Live teaches patience and ladder progress with bigger cash; Legacy gives instant “what if I held these three through {year}?” reps you can finish in one sitting.
Pick a year, then three cards that existed
Choose any complete year from 2016 through the last finished Eastern Time calendar year. Each year can be conquered once: keep trying after a loss or tie, and when you finally win, that year is marked conquered.
Select exactly three unlocked cards from your collection that traded enough in that year. Cards that had not IPO’d yet, have no history for that year, or have fewer than 10 months of historical bars are locked out with a clear reason. January’s historical open is the lock-in price for the fight—not today’s quote—so tiers and faces match the year you picked.
Month by month, average % wins
The Year Arena walks January through December. Each month, cards mark to that month’s historical high. The winner is whoever has the better average percent gain from lock-in—not raw dollar moves alone—so a cheap name that doubles can beat a pricey name that inches up.
You can watch the full year or skip ahead; the outcome is fixed when the fight starts so the animation never cheats. When you win and complete, $100 virtual cash lands once for that year. Losses cost nothing to retry.
How Legacy fits the money lessons
Legacy is great practice for reading history: which companies existed, how volatile a year felt, and why diversification still matters when three names decide a fight. It does not replace Live Matador, Daily Show-Up, Diversification, or Net Positive Week—those build the long-term portfolio habits.
Use Legacy for free, anytime warm-ups: $100 per conquered year, plus a one-time $2000 when every year is beaten. Use Live when you want the ladder and the larger per-fight win. Either way, you are playing with virtual cash only—Market Matador is not a brokerage.
Frequently asked questions
- What is BullFight Legacy?
- BullFight Legacy is a mode of the Beat The Matador challenge. Instead of waiting on a live Daily, Weekly, or Monthly fight, you pick a past calendar year, choose three cards that traded that year, and watch a month-by-month simulation against The Matador. It is free to start and pays virtual cash only if you win when the year finishes.
- How is Legacy different from Live Beat The Matador?
- Live Matador uses real-time periods, climbs the Bronze → Silver → Gold ladder, and pays more on a win. Legacy is instant (year animation), playable anytime, does not advance the live ladder, and pays a flat $100 virtual cash once when you conquer that year. Live always pays better; Legacy is for quick practice and smaller rewards.
- Why can’t I pick some of my cards for a Legacy year?
- A card is only eligible if that stock has enough public trading history in the year you chose—at least 10 months of historical bars. Pre-IPO names, symbols with no history for that year, and thin IPO years (fewer than 10 months) show as “Didn’t trade in {year} yet.” Pick three eligible cards; The Matador’s Fund picks are filtered the same way so the fight stays fair.
- How much do I win in BullFight Legacy?
- Legacy is free to play—no entry fee. Each year you conquer pays $100 in virtual cash once. Conquer every Legacy year (2016 through the last complete Eastern year) for a one-time $2000 all-years bonus. Live Matador wins still pay more per fight; Legacy is the instant practice path with a big completion prize.
