Privacy Policy

Overview

Market Matador (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is an educational stock market card game. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the platform, you agree to this policy. How Google Analytics runs depends on where you are and whether you have an account (see Cookies and analytics below).

Information we collect

  • Account information — When you sign in with Google or X (Twitter), we receive basic profile details such as your name, email address (when available), and account identifier from that provider.
  • Gameplay and account data — Card collections, balances (virtual only), game progress, challenges, and similar activity needed to run the product.
  • Technical and usage data — Device/browser type, pages visited, and similar diagnostics used to operate the site. Approximate location from IP and Google Analytics usage data are collected only if you accept analytics.

Cookies and analytics

We use two kinds of cookies / similar storage:

  • Essential — Required to sign in and run the game (for example, your session cookie). These stay on and are not optional.
  • Analytics — Optional Google Analytics (measurement ID G-HCJP5Z284W). When analytics is allowed under the regional rules below, Google may collect pages viewed, session duration, device and browser details, approximate location, and in-game events (for example challenge check-ins, claims, and fights). It cannot be turned on if you indicate you are under 13.

Outside the EEA/UK: analytics is enabled by default, including before you create an account, unless you opted out, your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, or you indicated you are under 13. You can turn analytics off anytime in Cookie settings or Your Privacy Choices. Creating an account is how we treat you as 13 or older for this analytics setting; under-13 visitors should turn analytics off or indicate that they are under 13 in Cookie settings.

We do not load advertising tags. Product settings keep Google ads / Signals-style advertising storage off. You can change your choice anytime via Cookie settings or Your Privacy Choices in the site footer.

European Union and United Kingdom

If you are in the EU/UK, we use Google Analytics only with your consent (banner or Cookie settings). Signing in does not turn analytics on by itself in the EU/UK. Rejecting analytics does not block you from playing. Essential cookies still run so sign-in works. If we cannot tell your country, we treat you like the EU/UK (ask before analytics runs).

California (and similar U.S. state laws)

We do not sell your personal information for money. Sharing usage data with Google Analytics may be treated as a “sale” or “share” under California law (CPRA) and similar state laws. In the United States (including California) and most other non-EEA countries, analytics may run by default, including before you create an account (see above). You can opt out by:

  • Using Your Privacy Choices (or Cookie settings) in the footer and turning analytics off
  • Enabling a browser Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal — we treat GPC as an opt-out of analytics / share, even if you previously accepted

How we use information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the game and related features
  • Authenticate accounts and keep the platform secure
  • Measure traffic and product usage via Google Analytics when allowed (EEA/UK consent, or default-on analytics outside the EEA/UK unless you opt out)
  • Communicate about the service when needed
  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service

Sharing

We share information with service providers who help us operate the platform (for example, hosting and authentication providers). If you enable or have default-on analytics, we also share usage data with Google Analytics. We do not sell your personal information for money.

Children’s privacy

Market Matador is designed for an educational audience that may include minors. Google Analytics is not enabled for users under 13: if you indicate you are under 13, analytics stays off. We do not currently offer a verifiable parental-consent flow to turn analytics on for that age group. Final COPPA wording is reserved for counsel review. This policy does not claim COPPA or FERPA certification. If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have collected personal information from a child in a way that concerns you, contact us using the details below and we will take appropriate steps.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (including the EU/UK and California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your personal information, and to opt out of certain sharing. Use the analytics banner, Cookie settings, or Your Privacy Choices to control Google Analytics. Contact us to make a request about your account data. You may also stop using the service or delete your account where that option is available.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the platform after updates means you accept the revised policy.
