Dividend Drop Explained

What a dividend is, and why Market Matador’s Daily Free Pack is your in-game dividend for playing with a portfolio.

By Market Matador · ·

What is a dividend?

In the real stock market, a dividend is a payment a company makes to its shareholders—people who own shares of that company. Companies that earn profits sometimes share a slice of those profits with owners, often every quarter.

You do not have to sell your stock to receive a dividend. Owning the shares is what qualifies you. That is the key idea: hold assets, get paid for holding them.

Dividend Drop = your Daily Free Pack

Market Matador uses the same idea in game form. If you play and build a portfolio of stock cards, we give you a dividend every market day: your Daily Free Pack on Challenges → Daily Show-Up.

We call that educational loop Dividend Drop. In the challenge UI you will see Daily Free Pack—same reward, clearer name for what you open. Dividend Drop is the story; Daily Free Pack is the button.

How to claim it

Open Challenges, check in while the U.S. market session is open, then open your Daily Free Pack. Check in later in the day and you still get the pack and keep your streak.

Show up in the first 30 minutes after the market opens (9:30–10:00 AM Eastern Time) and you can open a better Daily Free Pack—stronger Bronze cards plus a Silver—for being there at the open.

What this teaches

Real dividends reward ownership. Daily Free Pack rewards showing up with a portfolio in Market Matador. Both answer the same question: what do you earn just for holding and staying in the game?
